Paraspectra is a collective for sapphic and trans visual artists who share in the core values of community and the drive to create.
At its core, Paraspectra is a space to create, hang out, share skills, and build relationships with other creatives. The collective exists to create community and support for its members, particularly around the ways that being sapphic and/or trans can shape how we exist, create, and move through the world.
So many of us struggle to find the time, motivation, resources, accessibility, or community opportunities to pursue our crafts. Paraspectra seeks to bring like-minded people together to learn from and motivate each other, while making space for art to exist alongside the rest of our full lives. We seek to make that space as accessible as possible, whether that means creating a social safety net for people who need community, making sure the physical spaces we gather in are accessible, or sharing resources and skills to help make the financial barriers to creating a little smaller.
With community at our backs, we can create more freely, support one another more fully, and push back against the powers that seek to silence not only our creative expression, but our existence. Paraspectra is a community to fall back on when you need it, and a community to grow as both artists and people, because we all deserve the space and support to do so.
